The untimely and hasty withdrawal of the U.S. coalition forces from Afghanistan has cast serious doubt on the belief about the great military-economic might of the Western world, especially the USA. September 11, 2021, marks the 20th anniversary of the attack on the Twin Towers of the New York Trade Center and Pentagon, by Islamic terrorists. In response the U.S. coalition forces invaded Afghanistan and Iraq and occupied both countries on the pretext that these countries harboring the terrorists and were behind the attack. The aim and objective of the occupation were to eliminate the threat of Islamic terrorism and in particular its basis in Afghanistan. The campaign has not been successful, but in fact strengthened and spread the virus of terrorism across the whole world. And most likely has put the global security in grave danger. Probably it could be said the highest global distrust of the Americans was marked by the catastrophic withdrawal of the U.S. troops from Afghanistan. If not properly planned, It can be speculated that the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from Iraq at the end of this year may be repeated.
It should be also noted that most of Mr. Biden’s cabinet ministers are those who have served in the former President Barack Obama administration. The team is following a foreign policy like that of Obama’s that caused pervasive instability across the Middle East due to lack of decisive decision-making. For example, Iraq was handed over to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Crimea to Russia and escalating the crisis in Libya and Yemen. Mr. Biden’s cabinet has pursued the same scenario that will not only make the Middle East more volatile, but also most likely the Central Asian countries will also be plagued by Shia and Sunni Muslim terrorists.
Further, in a video message marking the20th anniversary of the 9/11, President Joe Biden stressed, “That the generation after this incident showed that “anyone who seeks to harm the United States” will pay for it.” However, despite the threat by Mr. Biden the Islamic terrorist group in Iraq attacked the U.S. military base near Erbil airport with two suicide drones loaded with explosives. In addition, Iraq’s prime minister when recently visited Iran, agreed to cancel travel visas between the two countries. This will no doubt be an opportunity to launch more terrorist attacks on U.S. interests in Iraq. Removing visa restriction between Iran and Iraq gives the IRGC Ghods’ brigade including its commander Ghaani exclusive opportunity to travel to Iraq without restriction and continue to support and organize the regime’s proxy militias in Iraq, who have been behind the recent drone attack.
I recall after the Islamic Revolution in Iran and the hostage taking of the U.S. diplomats for 444 days, the Iranian people were expecting a possible U.S. military attack against Iran, but Ayatollah Khomeini, aware of the U.S. government indecisiveness, told the Iranians not to worry because “the United States can do absolutely nothing”. President Biden has emphasized that the U.S.A. will continue to fight terrorism, no matter how long it may take, but giving no strategy and/or plan to be followed! President Biden’s promise of dealing with Islamic terrorism sounds hollow and mostly “daydreaming”! whilst terrorists are attacking the U.S. military forces in Iraq with suicide drones to kill, without any punitory. It sounds as if Mr. Biden, is even weaker in making decisive decisions compared with his predecessors Mr. Carter and Mr. Obama. The people of the world have been counting on the U.S. military-economic might and hopping that the U.S.A. would have combated terrorism and defending the Human Rights globally, but meddling and indecisiveness has taken away that hope and expectation. No one in the world will hardly ever place any value on the U.S. president’s empty threats.
Perhaps it would be better if the existing cabinet was replaced with effective ministers. That may perhaps help to restore some of the honors lost. In his message, President Biden has talked about the national unity and endurance. Why? Unity for what? Perhaps one may speculate leaving Afghanistan, accepting the Taliban’s terms of withdrawal, and its chaotic implementation, has made the American people vulnerable and scared!! It can be further speculated that under Mr. Biden presidency people feel more insecure. Mr. Biden’s call for unity may not go down well with Americans? The U.S.A. has a comprehensive democratic constitution, why should be a call for unity necessary at all? Mr. Biden’s administration must be hold responsible for answering these questions.
Finally, Mr. Robert Mali, Iran’s desk at the foreign ministry and the JCPOA lead negotiator in Vienna, has been travelling to Europe and Russia, to seek their assistance, perhaps put political pressure on the Islamic regime to return to the negotiating table. As we have already noted, the Islamic regime’s construction of an atomic bomb is strategic, and the JCPOA negotiation will not be able to deter that or place significant impact on the Islamic regime’s strategic nuclear program. Will it not however, joining JCPOA in Vienna, be construed approval of Seyed Ebrahim Raisi as president of Iran, who is already on the U.S. sanctions list?
Mr. president, the Vienna nuclear negotiation will never solve Iran’s nuclear issue. The regime only seeks to lift sanctions because, it fears the harsh livelihoods of the Iranian people, will turn them against the regime. The regime will never abandon its strategic atomic project and eventually will build an atomic bomb.
Mr. Biden, empty threat will never work! It is important to take serious action before it is too late.
Commander Mohammad Farsi
