Re: The Islamic Republic of Iran President Abrahim Raisi attending the UN General Assembly
The Iran Transition Council (ITC) overwhelmingly represents a significant portion of the Iranian people, an opposition organization to the Islamic regime. The ITC herewith registers its protest, in the strongest terms, against Mr Raisi’s visiting the 2023 UN General Assembly as president of Iran.
Iranian people have suffered economically, and completely void of any basic Human Rights under Mr Raisi’s presidency. The regime has imprisoned and killed thousands of Iranians and destabilized the region of the Middle East in decades. In series of protests for hardship and Human Right, 2017-2022, the regime has murdered more than 3000 people including women and children.
Excellency, as you are aware a 22-year-old young girl for not having the right scarf (Islamic Hijab) was brutally murdered by the Morality Police on 13 September 2022, when people protested this brutal killing, the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement. On this occasion the regime oppressed and killed over 600 young women and young men and wounded many hundreds. The young women are protesting the unlawful Islamic Hijab and the oppressing machinery has killed or blinded many using shotguns.
To support the Mahsa’s movement, on Saturday 22 October 2022, many Iranians in solidary with people in Iran demonstrated against the regime, 100,000 in Berlin; many in the USA, UK and elsewhere. These were reported by newspaper and social media across the globe. Peace loving people of the world demanded the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Core (IRGC), the repressive machinery, to be listed as terrorist, where many parliaments voted and approved in Europe and the USA.
Your excellency, it is worth bringing to your attention that Raisi was a leading member of a death squad in 1989, who in two weeks executed over 3500 prisoners by command of the then supreme leader Ayatollah Khomeini. For this reason, he is nicknamed “judge-blood”.
The Ghods force, overseas wing of the IRGC has established several paramilitary forces in the Middle Eastern region, in particular Iraq and Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen, namely Ansarullah, Badr, Kataib Hezbollah, Asaib Ahl al-Haq, Saraya Khorasani, Kataib Imam Ali, and Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba. Their atrocities have destabilised the Middle Eastern region. Recently, these paramilitaries have been forcefully grabbing people’s properties in Baghdad when the Great Ayatollah Sistani had to intervene to stop.
Further, the regime is siding with Mr Putin of Russia, sending Suicide Drones used by Russian forces against Ukraine, killing innocent people and endangering the world peace.
The ITC management would like to ask, in this extremely sensitive situation, Mr Raisi is prevented to participate at the 2023 UN General Assembly.
