Letter of Mohammad Mahdavifar, (a signatory to the 14-member letter calling for Khamenei’s resignation) to the President of the United States of America

Dear Mr. Joe Biden

President of the United States of America

I am Mohammad Mahdavifar, (a signatory to the 14-member letter calling for Khamenei’s resignation), asks you Mr. president please take immediate and urgent action for sending Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to Iran, as the situation in Iran is devastating beyond control; the vaccines must be sent via “Doctors Without Borders” organisation, as sending the vaccines through the Iranian government’s channel will never reach the destitute people who are in need and who are perishing due to Covid-19.

I am an Iranian veteran, a soldier, former political prisoner, and at present an active member of an opposition. Mr. President I wish to inform you, as you are well aware, that Ayatollah Khamenei banned the import of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to Iran on the pretext of making home produced vaccines, although this claim was for the purpose of purchasing other types from others!

Mr. President, most countries of the world are moving forward towards containing and eradicating Covid-19, but people in Iran are in the most indescribable dangerous situation. The government is hiding the number of death statistics from the people of Iran and from the world, but inside-information reveals very desperate situation; hundreds are dying every day.

Mr. president, I ask you please provide people of Iran with a gift of at least 20 million doses of Pfizer and/or Moderna vaccines immediately, but the gift must be delivered through “Doctors Without Borders”; otherwise, it will never get to the people who are desperately in need.

Further, I ask you please loan or make a gift of one billion dollars to our medical staff, especially Iranian nurses. This fund is necessary for effective operation of our medical personnel to function effectively to contain the virus. The loan can be returned at the first opportunity when people of Iran have replaced the Islamic Republic with a democratic government, or it may be taken from the Iran blocked assets.

As the current government may not be trusted to receive the requested assistance, we need to discuss the possible way of allocating the fund when it is approved. Please act urgently as the situation in Iran is so desperate and many lives are perishing every day.

I look forward to your urgent response.

Respectfully yours,

Mohammad Mahdavifar
