Letter of ITC Secretary General to the Prime Minister of Belgium

28 July 2022

Alexander De Croo

Prime Minister of Belgium

Rue de la Loi 16 BE-1000

Brussels

Mr Prime Minister

Prisoner swap between the Belgium Kingdom and Islamic Republic of Iran

It is regrettable that your government’s bill authorizing the transfer of convicted criminals between the Islamic Republic and of Iran (IRI) and Belgium has been allowed by the Belgian Parliament. If it becomes law, the terrorist regime and its supporters will be encouraged to increase their terrorist operations in the world, especially in Europe, including the Kingdom of Belgium.

Iran Transitional Council )ITC), who represent a high percentage of Iranians, considers the action of the Belgian Kingdom contrary to the conventions against global terrorism, and a move that “gives a green light” to the Islamic Republic system and encourages the deployment of more terrorists to Europe and elsewhere. We warned you in our letter of July 3rd 2022 that the Iranian regime is championing these terrorists in Iran in order to encourage others to follow suit. In addition, whenever an agent of the regime has been arrested outside Iran, ordinary citizens are taken hostage by the regime in order to free the arrested agent. We reiterate again, that terrorist offenders of the Islamic regime in the western countries are considered national heroes by the Islamic rulers in Iran. The ITC does, however, positively condone the interim Brussels appeal’s court ruling that has halted Asadollah Asadi’s transfer to Iran and expects that the next ruling will make the first permanent.

Mr. De Croo, the Islamic regime is not an elected government by the Iranian people and is currently governing illegally in Iran. The people of Iran, by means of civil disobedience, have proven to the world the Islamic regime in Iran is illegal. The regime is very repressive and has at numerous times suppressed, imprisoned, and killed many people. Furthermore, the regime has been kidnapping and killing Iranian dissidents around the world, including those in the Middle East. Many, after being kidnapped, have been taken to Tehran and executed. The people of Iran are determined to replace this illegal regime and to establish a free and democratically elected government, in the hope that neighbouring countries and the peace-loving nations of the world would at last have a new partner in the pursuit of human development, both regionally and globally.

Therefore, let the Belgian government be warned that the ITC is considering taking legal action and will make use of all legal means, including legislations in Belgian, Europe, and the European parliaments’ statutory laws, against this ruling. The extradition of terrorist convicts between the Kingdom of Belgium and the Islamic regime is unacceptable and contrary to the established global fight against terrorism. In addition, it must be recognized that the transfer of convicted criminals endangers the security of the democratic world and must be stopped.

ITC Secretary General
